The lightest/fastest hunting rifle on the market
The next generation of the ground-breaking Backcountryโข family, the Backcountry 2.0 builds on the classic steel Weatherbyยฎ Mark Vยฎ action โ with some key updates. Still equipped with a super thin and lightweight fluted barrel, it is contoured at a #1 MOD or #2 MOD depending on the chambering.
The most noticeable upgrade is the new carbon fiber Peak 44โข Blacktoothโข stock, the lightest versions of which tip the scales at under 20 ounces.
Also grabbing the eye is the second generation 3DHEXยฎ recoil pad, the first production 3D printed pad the firearms world has seen. Hidden inside the pad are a series of interlocking voids that progressively collapse during recoil, expanding the time component of the recoil impulse and deadening the sharp kick of magnum chamberings.
More pronounced spiral fluting on the bolt body not only trims a little weight, it also reduces bearing surface within the action and results in even smoother function. The newly-threaded bolt handle is equipped with a lightweight aluminum extended and skeletonized knob.
Fit with Weatherbyโs highly-effective Accubrakeยฎ ST, this brake is blended to match the profile of the muzzle. With 30 symmetrically-spaced ports that help harness the recoil, it tames even magnum chamberings and makes them pleasant to shoot.
Starting at just 5.2 lbs and 5.4 lbs in magnum chamberings, the Backcountry 2.0 also sports an updated paint scheme, with action and barrel protected by a Cerakoteยฎ shell of Patriot Brown, with the stock carrying a brown and green pattern over exposed carbon fiber.
Built to be the lightest possible rifle and chambered in some of the worldโs fastest cartridges, the Backcountry 2.0 is a worthy successor to the throne.ย

Iโve owned two weatherby mark 5 light weights for guiding and loved them – so I took the step and bought a weatherby backcountry titanium in 308.
Itโs my favourite calibre and this way I get to use it more.
I have two loads – 168 grain sierra tmk doing 2923 and very accurate, but only good for lighter deer.
I switched bullets to 168 accubonds and to be honest it took me around 100 rounds to finally get them to shoot.
I am using 46.2 varget and ogive finally was long 2.301. Speed 2800
Had three bullets touching today at 500 yards
But typically not waiting for barrel cools I get 2 touch and the third .5 inch.
Itโs a very light right so it is critical to hold Correctly ๐

I bought a Mark V backcountry .270 Win when they were first made in Wy. (not the new 2.0). It is the first rifle I have ever owned that shoots factory loaded Nosler Partition bullets well. It consistently shoots 3 shot groups in the .6-inch range with both the 130 and 150 grain bullets. Thanks to all the American workers at Weatherby for their dedication to precision work. Kudos! I noticed on the website that the .270 Win. is no longer offered. Too bad. I’m glad I got mine!!!

The Backcountry 2.0 is an incredible hunting rifle. Mine is a LH 338 RPM. The stock has a perfect LOP and cheek weld, allowing for comfortable and rapid target acquisition without snagging on layers, etc.
The 18″ barrel of the 338 RPM pairs perfectly with the short-form Omega 36M suppressor. My entire hunting setup (rifle, scope, rings, sling, suppressor, and 4 rounds in the mag) weighs 6lbs 10oz, and is perfectly balanced. It’s extremely accurate with two different loads, and the fit and finish is exceptional.

I bought a Backcountry 2.0 in .280 Ackley Improved for an upcoming elk hunt with my son. It will be the first elk hunt for both of us. I called the factory and asked a ton of questions. The representative was super helpful.
The gun itself has great out of the box accuracy. The 3D Hex recoil pad makes a significant difference and makes it a pleasure to shoot even in such a lightweight package. Always wanted to own a Weatherby and this gun lived up to my expectations.

Love my 300 light weight manageable recoil and plenty of power for the kenai peninsula in Alaska where I live after 30 days in the field this season there is a little rust but this season was really cold and wet rain mixed with a little snow only a couple nice days this year

Love my 6.5 rpm easily shoots moa with retumbo and eldx, hammer or Barnes bullets.

The rifle is really great. With retumbo powder both 143 eldx and 127 Barnes long range are easily capable of half inch groups at 100 yards. Wonderful to carry in the field. Love my rpm.

Awesome rifle! Balances great with a Swarovski Z6 3-18×50, solid combo. Use in box blind, high rack and spot & stalk.
