The 6.5 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge) was released in 2018. This was the birth of the PRC line-up, intended to compliment the 6.5 Creedmoor, the 6.5 PRC offers 200+ FPS faster than the CM. Weatherby is known for ballistics and velocity. Our offerings push the industry standards on both.
The Elite Hunter bullet is made with the longest possible hybrid ogive (nose). As the bearing surface ends, the tangent ogive begins, resulting in much less sensitivity to seating depth. As you move beyond the tangent ogive, the shape changes to a secant ogive, maximizing efficiency in the wind. The long-nosed Elite Hunter projectiles produce the highest possible Ballistic Coefficients. Elite Hunter bullets also incorporate a slightly thinner J4 Precision hunting jacket, which allows the projectile to penetrate 2″ to 3″ before rapidly expanding. Upon expansion, the projectile sheds most of its weight producing extreme hydrostatic shock and a massive wound cavity in the vital area. Hammer Bullets™ are turned on a CNC lathe and use a unique solid copper blend that is designed for maximum terminal performance. Each bullet is weighed and micrometer measured as it is produced. The result is an incredibly consistent product with unparalleled quality control. The hollow point design initiates expansion upon impact, shedding petals immediately, with the remainder of the bullet staying intact with a blunt front for optimal wound channel. The bearing surface of Hammer bullets incorporates the patented PDR design (parabolic drag reduction). A continuous parabolic up and down curve, from the shoulder to the boat tail, reduces friction in the bore which equates to decreased pressure and the ability to achieve higher velocities. His 280 AI set out to improve the .280 Rem by steeping the shoulder to 40 degrees to increase powder capacity.
