Bought the Orion for 2018 spring turkey season. The gun is well made – top quality – tight and smooth. It’s a little stiff but I would expect that to work out with use. No turkey but we’ll try it on doves in a week.
As for the markings on the choke tubes: the markings on mine are stamped or engraved into the steel. They won’t wear off. There is also “NO STEEL” stamped on the full choke tube. Assumed that from the literature but this confirms it.

Why is there only full and improved cylinder tubes offered? I would like the option of buying skeet 1 and skeet 2 tubes should they be available. This is a serious shortcoming in your offerings as far as I am concerned.
Taxed Enough Already –
I’m over 60 years of age. I have over 35 years of experience in managing quality control and quality assurance in manufacturing and technology. A lot of that experience is in geometric dimensioning and tolerance work. In my experience, it is almost always better to go with replacement parts that made by the Original Manufacturer. These Weatherby tubes screw in and lock in perfectly and with ease. Despite what some bloggers may say, the tubes are of excellent quality.
As for the markings, in addition to the painted marks each tube has a series of small notches on the surface that becomes flush with the barrel end. The small notches are on one of the lands between the wrench grooves. One notch is full choke. Three notches is modified. And, four notches is improved. I hope this helps!
