Starting at just 5.7 lbs the Mark V® High Country was purpose-built to be a lightweight, versatile mountain rifle. It features Peak 44™’s Bastion™ carbon fiber stock which weighs only 24oz. The Bastion has a shooter-friendly vertical grip and features dual front swivel studs for multiple attachments. Equipped with an Accubrake and 3DHEX® Recoil pad, the High Country manages recoil extremely well, even with Weatherby’s historic magnum cartridges. This is the rifle you want when hiking to the furthest depths of the high country.

The next step in the Mark V lineup

Building on the popularity of the ground-breaking Backcountry 2.0 series, the High Country takes the next step in the Mark V lineup adding a lightweight vertical grip option. The Peak 44™ Bastion™ is a vertical grip carbon fiber stock that weighs in at just 24 ounces making it one of the lightest vertical grip stocks on the market today. The Bastion features dual front swivel studs to allow for multiple attachments and the recoil-reducing 3DHEX® recoil pad. Hidden inside the pad are a series of interlocking voids that progressively collapse during recoil, expanding the time component of the recoil impulse and deadening the sharp kick of magnum chamberings.

The High Country is built on the classic steel Weatherby® Mark V® action and is equipped with a lightweight spiral fluted barrel. Spiral fluting helps cut weight and can help with heat management. Spiral fluting on the bolt body not only trims a little weight but it also reduces bearing surface within the action and results in a smoother function. The threaded bolt handle is equipped with a lightweight skeletonized knob.

The spiral fluted barrel is threaded and fitted with Weatherby’s highly-effective Accubrake® ST. With 30 symmetrically-spaced ports that help harness the recoil, it tames even magnum chamberings and makes them pleasant to shoot.

By adding an Accubrake ST you will significantly reduce felt recoil up to 53%. Available in four different barrel diameters, with thread protector, for a perfect brake-to-barrel contour.

The shortest in the industry (as compared to typical 90 bolt throw). Allows for faster chambering on follow-up shots and greater bolt-to-scope clearance.

Deep Fluted Bolt

A larger radius, deeper flute not only trims a bit more weight from the bolt body of the Mark V, it also increases the smoothness with which the bolt can be cycled.

Sourced from Peak 44, this stock has the distinction of being the lightest production aerospace-grade carbon fiber stock on the market.
