Bought my 6.5-300 Weatherby Magnum as a cold/bad weather backup rifle as I hunt high altitudes and weather moves in very fast. After two weeks of 9000′ elevation and early snows, the deer began moving down from the rock shelfs. This buck was chasing 6-does and getting in time for the November rut. He is was in the best shape I have ever seen for this time of year and the mule deer herd is being managed very well in this particular Southern border crossing. We jumped them out of a ravine and I took my shot from 78 yards with 158 grain Barnes TTSX bullet. The performance was spectacular,….instant kill. I was very happy.. This bullet and the Nosler Partitions are my favorites. I was going to include my picture, but wouldn’t accomodate. My rifle has all the bells and whistles on it 26′ spiral flute barrel and muzzle break with 2 Lb. adjustable trigger. This is a winner and can’t wai to kill an elk or sheep with it. Cheers, Renn Daniles

I looked at this rifle a lot at my local Ace Hardware and finally bought one in .300 Win Mag and am very happy; do yourself a favor tho, this rifle is only 8lbs with a scope… get the muzzle brake!
After going through Weatherby’s recommended 40 round barrel break in process, I’m shooting groups less than 1″ at 100 yards. Needless to say, I’m totally satisfied and happy with this new rifle.
If you can find the Talus anywhere, GRAB IT! Highly recommend this rifle.
